ACCOUNTANT (RECEIVABLES)

 (FINANCE DEPARTMENT) 

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Accountant (Receivables), the incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of the Receivables Sub-Ledger, reconciliation of customers’ accounts and assisting with the timely collection from customers.
 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • ACCA Level II, Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent professional qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a similar position, or five (5) years of general accounting experience.


 

KEY TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Financial Administration and Audit Act (FAA) and Public Bodies Management Accountability Act (PBMA).
  • Knowledge of relevant Accounting and spreadsheet software applications.

  • Effective negotiation and problem-solving abilities.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Maintains and Reconciles the Accounts Receivables Sub-Ledger with the General Ledger monthly.
  • Ensure monthly invoices are prepared accurately and submitted on time.
  • Prepares relevant receivables schedules for audit purposes.
  • Prepares monthly Accounts Receivables Journals to aid in the preparation of monthly reports.
  • Checks accuracy of entries to be made to Accounts Receivable Ledger (invoices, payments, credit notes) using edit listing and source documents.
  • Addresses/resolves customers’ concerns regarding billing errors, etc.
  • Formulates and mails written correspondence to customers.
  • Assists with and pursues collections from assigned customers.
  • Ensure that up-to-date Customer History Statements are maintained and that the invoice system is updated with same.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of customer data across the invoice system and Great Plains.
  • Ensures that all information relating to new customers is placed on the JCAA's billing system.
  • Prepares listing of daily incoming wires to the JCAA’s bank account and submit report to cashier for receipting.
  • Perform other related duties assigned from time to time.
